Pakistan voiced serious concerns of military imbalances in South Asia at the session of UN’s Disarmament Commission. As South Asia and most of Asia consists of nuclear armed states, the region has become overly volatile. Pakistani’s stance towards the efforts of disarmament and equal security for all states, is commendable and should be given due importance at international forums. Not only is the disarmament of nuclear states necessary, for a safe and secure world environment, but also the minimization of conventional weapons, which have an unnerving trend of escalation throughout the globe. The fact that Pakistan has voiced its concerns over the growing military imbalance, fast weaponisation and the need for security of non-nuclear weapon states highlights Pakistan as a responsible state.
