GUJRANWALA: The Civil Lines Police smashed 58 criminal gangs and arrested 213 outlaws over the past 10 months.
The police also recovered stolen property worth Rs4.8 million. On the directives of the Gujranwala Division RPO, the Civil Lines Police launched a crackdown on anti-social element across the district.
Talking to the media men, Civil Lines Police SP Nadeem Khokhar said that police also arrested 691 drug-peddlers and recovered 192,399 grams of Charas, 39,695 grams of heroin, 45 grams of opium and 5,802 litres of liquid from their procession during the campaign. In a drive against illegal arms, the Civil Lines Police also recovered 30 Kalashnikovs, 17 rifles, 40 rifles 12-bore, 40 revolvers, 520 pistols 30-bore and 3,372 bullets. Similarly, the police nabbed 639 persons for carrying illegal arms. Meanwhile, two persons received burns here at Garjakh. It was reported that a room of a house located at Garjakh near police station suddenly caught fire due to short-circuit. –Staff Reporter
Resultantly, Yousaf, 42, and Rukhsana, 36, received burn injuries and were shifted to DHQ Hospital.
