KARACHI - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that economic progress and economic activity is directly linked with peace in Karachi hence a terror-free and peaceful Karachi is the ultimate aim of this operation.

He said that all the efforts must be directed with a focused approach to achieve this objective.

He stated this while chairing a security meeting on Wednesday during his visit to Corps Headquarters Karachi.

Corps Commander Karachi and Director Generals (DG) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Operations (MO), Military Intelligence (MI), Pakistan Rangers, Sindh were also present.

COAS was briefed in detail regarding ongoing Karachi operation including intelligence-based operations, said a Press statement issued by ISPR.

While expressing his satisfaction over the success and pace of operation, COAS lauded Rangers, intelligence and other law-enforcement agencies for their phenomenal achievements and sacrifices in improving security environment in Karachi.

COAS also appreciated the people of Karachi for their unflinching support for the security forces.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, he addressed the faculty, participants and allied officers of Air War Course. He dilated on the current global issues, regional security environment, and our fight against the menace of terrorism.

He resolved to take the fight to its logical end and help create environment to embark the country on the road to development.

Speaking at the occasion, he lauded PAF's role and contributions in support of Army in Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Synergy achieved between air and land forces has been highly appreciable, he said.
