MULTAN: The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has decided to run feeder buses on 11 routes of Multan city to connect metro route to various areas of the city.

Sources disclosed that the PMTA had sent a letter to the district administration of Multan, asking them to provide parking space for feeder busses at three separate spots in the city. “The PMTA has sought about 32 kanals of land at Vehari Chowk, BCG Chowk and Chungi No-9 for creating parking place for the feeder busses,” sources added.

The sources said that the local transport officials also visited different routes of the city along with Metro Project consultant company to fix the number of feeder buses after evaluation of the commuters turnout.

They said that the provincial government had already decided to run new buses at feeder routes in Multan and Lahore, adding that automated fare system would be introduced at these feeder buses . The provincial government hopes that the new mass transit system will rid the citizens of transport issues and offer quick, cheaper, comfortable and respectable means of transport.–Staff Reporter
