Due to slackness of police, the incidents of burglary and dacoity have been increased in the area and the citizens have demanded intensified patrolling for providing security for them.

Unidentified burglars broken into the Cheema Medical Store in busiest Rail Bazar here and decamped with Rs350,000. Similarly, bandits broke into the house of Sufian Iqbal in Teachers Colony when the occupants were away from the house and made off with two cameras, Rs15,000 and gold ornaments weighing eight tolas.

According to another report, some bandits set up picket near Narozpur village and deprived a number of villagers of their cash and cell phones. The police in all the cases have failed to arrest any of the accused.

On the other side, DPO Haroon Joyia has directed the SHOs of all police stations to intensify patrolling to prevent street crimes in the area.

He said that it was prime duty of the police to provide sense of security to masses and it was imperative for them to ensure elimination of crimes and criminals. He particularly directed them to round-up the proclaimed offenders and drug paddlers. He warned that he would show zero tolerance to the negligent and work shirkers. He directed the cops to keep a vigilant eye on the disruptive elements and their facilitators.

FOUR DIE IN ACCIDENTS: Four people including a couple were killed while eight others seriously injured in three road mishaps in three places of the district.

According to rescue sources, Khushi along with his wife Hameeda of Vanike Tarar was on way to Hafizabad on a bike. Near Channi Hanjranwan, a car coming behind hit the bike. Resultantly, the couple sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the DHQ Hospital from where they were referred to a Lahore hospital but they breathed their last on way to Lahore.

Bilqees Bibi, Rukhsana, Maqboolan Bibi, Khadim Hassain and four others were on way to Pindiwala village in a rickshaw when a speeding van coming from opposite direction dashed against the 3-wheelers. As a result, Maqboolan died on the spot and seven others were seriously injured and were shifted to the local hospital. The van driver managed his good escape after the accident.

Likewise, Samiullah Khan and his friend Ahmad Sijjad of Kot Sarwar were on way to Hafizabad on a bike when a speeding wagon hit the bike, as a result of which Samiullah kHna died on the spot while Ahmad Sajjad sustained serious injuries and was shifted to DHQ Hospital.
