KASUR-Local lawmakers and workers of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) took out a protest rally against lifetime disqualification of former premier Nawaz Sharif by Supreme Court (SC) here the other day.

They set ablaze tyres and shouted slogans against the (SC) verdict. Addressing the protesting PML-N workers, MNA Waseem Akhtar Sheikh said that Nawaz Sharif was being made victim of political victimisation. He said that the masses had rejected the verdict.

MPA Naeem Safdar Ansari expressed his wonder over the SC verdict, questioning how a court could give verdict describing lifetime disqualification of a politician who believed in public service. He maintained that the masses would not accept the verdict. Baitul Maal district chairman Nasir Mehmood Khan termed the verdict unfair. "The party workers will organise larger protests if the verdict is not withdrawn," he threatened.


The government was trying its best to turn Kasur into a peaceful and prosperous district, said District Council chairman Rana Sikandar Hayat.

He expressed these remarks while planting a sapling at Burj Kalan village in connection with Green Kasur Project here the other day.

He reiterated the claim of making all out efforts to raise living standards of the people of Kasur district. He said that the people of Kasur would find clean drinking water. "Playgrounds will be constructed across the district," he added. He vowed that the government was making concrete steps to improve the quality of education in public schools.
