1,200-acre state land retrieved in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD - As many as 1,200 acres of state land worth Rs45 million was retrieved in Jhang district on Tuesday. According to official sources, an anti-corruption team held an operation in Chak No 10/2 Thal 10 in Jhang and retrieved the land. The illegal occupants had cultivated grains crop on the land which was handed over to the revenue department, the source added.

Awareness session about helpline, road safety held

Punjab Highway Patrolling police Faisalabad region organized an awareness session about helpline, road safety & traffic rules and coronavirus SOPs at a private college here on Tuesday.

Incharge PHP mobile education unit Rizwan Bhatti during his lecture said, “We can save ourselves on highways by adopting preventive measures.” He said that wearing face masks, observing social distance of minimum 6 feet, avoiding going in public gatherings, and washing and sanitizing hands were the basic preventives which could save from corona pandemic. 

Providing information about patrolling police helpline 1124, he said that patrolling police were providing quick help to people in emergency and controlling crimes on highways. He said that if anyone facing difficulty while travelling on highways, he should call at 1124 for help. He also provided tips to participants about traffic rules, importance of seat belts, helmets, side mirrors, indicator lights and disadvantages of cell phones during driving and doing wheelie.

Fireworks seized, 

accused arrested

Jhang Bazaar police arrested accused and seized heavy quantity of fireworks from its possession.  According to police spokesman here on Tuesday, the team headed by ASI Jameel Babar signaled a suspect mini truck near Bohar chowk, Jhang Road and during search, the police recovered 28 cartons filled with fireworks and arrested accused driver Ashraf from the spot. A case was registered while further investigation was underway.

WASA to prepare bottled water on commercial basis: MD

Managing Director (MD) Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) Jabbar Anwar Chaudhry has said that bottled water project of the Agency was being expanded to prepare 1.5 liter and 500 milliliter mineral water bottles on commercial basis.  During an introductory meeting with newly posted Director General (DG) Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Dr Faisal Azeem on Tuesday, he said that WASA was working on three mega projects with an estimated cost of Rs55 billion and these projects would be completed within next three years, with the help of foreign funding. He said that WASA had also planned installing a 24-megawatt solar power plant to overcome shortage of electricity for WASA wells and disposal stations.  The FDA Director General told the meeting that a strategy would be adopted to bring WASA services in line with the public expectations. He said that comprehensive plans would also be made for sustainable solutions to WASA problems. He directed the WASA authorities to evolve an effective and comprehensive strategy for further improving revenue collection mechanism.
