LAHORE - Majority of the DHA residents especially the shopkeepers continued to suffer for the second consecutive day due to stagnant rainwater in front of their houses and shops. While talking to The Nation on Wednesday, a number of defence residents complained that they were still facing trouble on account of rainwater which is yet to recede. The shopkeepers on defence Main Boulevard also seemed much perturbed over the situation. They said their business had come to a halt due to stagnant rainwater in front of their shops. They called upon DHA authorities to pay attention to their woes. "No customer has turned up at any shop on Main Boulevard since Tuesday. We don't know for how long we will have to wait for the rain water to recede as more rain is expected in the coming days", said a worried shopkeeper in Defence. The Tuesday's rain has exposed the poor planning of DHA authorities, which seem ill-equipped to deal with any emergent situation in monsoon season. The DHA has failed to lay a proper drainage system in the so-called model residential scheme despite the fact that drainage problem in defence is aggravating with every passing year. A DHA spokesperson on Tuesday came up with an absurd explanation about the drainage problem in Defence, as he put the entire blame of sorry state of affairs in this regard on the residents.
