LAHORE - Justice Hafiz Tariq Nasim of the Lahore High Court Wednesday sought comments from the then district and sessions judge Gujrat Allah Baksh Ranjha (now posted at Kasur) and personal appearance of DCO with report till August 25 on a petition challenging the recruitment of junior clerks in sessions court that were made on the basis of fake domiciles. The petitioner Syed Zaheer Abbas through his counsel contended that D&S judge recruited candidates belonging to his village and areas around Sargodha by producing fake domicile certificates of District Gujrat. He pointed out that these appointments were made in sheer violation of standing instructions of the Lahore High Court that the district cadre posts are meant for the residents of the said district. The petitioner said he had not been taken into consideration for appointment despite the fact that he had served for two years as junior clerk on adhoc basis. The LHC had called for comments from D&S judge and DCO previously. The DCO in its initial report had conceded the fact that the candidates appointed from outside had never resided in District Gujrat. He undertook to submit a final report after conducting regular inquiry.
