ISLAMABAD Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said the government was utilising all its resources into service for rescue and relief efforts to minimise the sufferings of the flood affected people in the minimum possible time. He further said that due to hot and humid weather his Governments immediate concern is arrangement of clean drinking water, food and medicine to control outbreak of epidemics among the affectees. The Prime Minister said this while talking to the newly elected Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan who came for a courtesy call here at Prime Ministers Secretariat Friday morning. Premier Gilani stressed the need of unity and cooperation among all the political forces to help out the people affected by the devastating flood. The Prime Minister said that the government has prepared a three pronged strategy to help the flood affectees which included the evacuation of the people marooned in the flood hit areas; the provision of food and medicines to control outbreak of epidemics and the restoration of the main infrastructure, communication network and rehabilitation of the people. The PM further said it was the time when all the political parties, civil society and patriotic forces have to extend a helping hand to supplement the Governments relief efforts. AJK Premier Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan apprised the Prime Minister of the losses caused by torrential rain and flash floods in the various areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
