LAHORE Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has been cleared to play for Essex for the remainder of the domestic season. The 29-year-old was surprisingly dropped by his country after their first Test defeat by England, but Pakistans loss is Essexs gain, with Kaneria cleared to feature in Twenty20 Cup finals. He was quoted by BBC Essex: Its bad Im not with Pakistan, but Im delighted to be back with Essex. Ive got the NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Pakistan Cricket Board and Im willing to play. Kaneria took 1-171 in his countrys 354-run defeat at Trent Bridge, before the Pakistan selectors opted to send the 29-year-old packing. Overall, Kaneria has taken 261 wickets in 61 Test matches, at an average of 34.79, having taken five wicket in an innings on 15 occasions and ten wickets in a match twice.
