KARACHI (PR) - PIA MD Captain Muhammad Aijaz Haroon called on Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and presented a cheque of Rs 13m being PIA employees one days salary contribution for flood affected people. MD PIA also briefed PM about the airlines relief goods operation. PIA is uplifting free of cost relief goods from its network both local and international. Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani appreciated MD PIA and the airline employees for their support and voluntary contribution for the flood affected people. So far PIA had uplifted 40,000 kgs of relief goods to Peshawar and Islamabad and Lahore. The relief goods that are being uplifted free of cost include medicines, dry/ canned food, dry milk, new clothing, mineral water and tents etc. Previously for the Swat IDPs PIA airlifted 500,000 kgs of relief goods from both domestic and international stations. PIA scouts have also set up collection camps at Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore and Faisalabad. Meanwhile, PIA MD has requested NGOs and the people to extend a helping hand by way of contributing relief goods for the flood affected people.
