KARACHI - Due to financial constraint, the high-ups of Pakistan Railways still to decide to operate special trains for Eid-ul-Fitr this year. The Railways authorities had already hinted that the special trains would not be operated anymore due to current financial crisis as operations of several regular passengers trains had already been closed. While contacting, DCO PR Karachi Division, Kamran Saeed negated the news that special trains were decided to be closed. He, however, said that the final decision regarding operating of special Eid trains would be taken in the mid of Ramadan, after observing the demands for such trains. He said that PR usually allocates at least five special trains every year to facilitate people on the occasions of Eid. The special trains have been profitable for the department, and hopefully the said special service would be continued, he hoped. Last year, PR Karachi Division had earned around Rs 0.5 billion during four days from Karachi alone as people traveled by special Eid train from Karachi to upper part of the country. Meanwhile, the President of Pakistan Railway Workers Federation Manzoor Razi has said that special trains have been profitable. He demanded to continue the special train services in this year. He also appealed the Railway ministry to provide shares in profit to the lowers workers.
