ISLAMABAD Welcoming the visit of UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon, President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday stressed the need for early completion of damage need assessment (DNA) with the help of international financial and humanitarian agencies. The President chaired a high-level meeting in the Presidency and took a number of decisions for alleviating the sufferings of victims of devastating floods in a smooth, expeditious and transparent manner. These included provision of computerised cards to all victims and affectees as was done in the case on internally displaced persons (IDPs) last year. Second important decision was on providing financial assistance to those who have lost their homes in the floods. According to Presidential Spokesman Farhatullah Babar, The challenge is total and it requires a total response, the President remarked and added, This is the time to mobilise national spirit and sensitise international community to help our people.
