FEROZEWALA - The Butchers Association at a meeting with Assistant Commissioner Rash-ed Irshad Hussain Saturday called off their four-day strike. During the meeting, they assured the assistant commissioner that they would follow the district administrations instructions while running their business. Some five days ago, the district administration team, headed by the AC, arrested dozens of butchers and sent them to jail for five days for profiteering and selling substandard and forbidden meat. The butchers went on strike against the arrests. The association office-bearers, including its president Ashraf, met the assistant commissioner and assured that they would sell mutton for Rs410 per kg and beef for Rs200 per kg. They also pledged that they would sell hygienic meat and avoid profiteering. The arrested butchers were released after three-day detention. The AC told the media that the butchers would follow the district administrations instructions otherwise they would face stern action.
