'N MNA released on bail

RAWALPINDI - The Adiala Jail authorities Saturday set PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel free after the court granted him bail in two cases. A large number of supporters of PML-N gathered outside Adiala Jail and accorded Aqeel a warm welcome. While talking to media persons, Aqeel said that his past and present were very clear, and he believed that he would also succeed in future. He said that case filed against him was fourteen years old which had no link with his membership of the National Assembly. Some elements are hatching conspiracies against me by highlighting the case but they will not succeed in their nefarious designs, he added. The PML-N MNA was of view that scores of PML-N supporters assembled outside Shamilmar Police Station, Islamabad, on the day he was brought there. But who picked me up from there and got me released from police custody would be unveiled soon, he added. Later, Aqeel was taken to his Golra residence by PML-N workers in the shape of a caravan. It is pertinent to mention here that a citizen got registered a case against Anjum Aqeel Khan with FIA, claiming that he (Anjum) received Rs 950,000 from him for a plot but later did not transfer the land to him. The law enforcers arrested Aqeel in the aforementioned case and were shifting him to Shalimar Police Station, Islamabad, when dozens of PML-N supporters launched an armed attack on police party, resorted to aerial firing and secured release of Aqeel from police custody. Police, while taking action, registered another case under Anti Terrorism Act against the MNA on account of fleeing from police custody. However, the court granted bail to MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan in both the cases.
