PESHAWAR - A couple after having married on its own was gunned down, while another person, accompanying the couple, sustained injures in a firing incident in district Nowshera on Monday, police said.

They said Musafar and Zarkisha, residents of village Pirpai, married one year back on their own will. They said the family of Zarkisha was reportedly against the marriage. The couple was on their way to somewhere along with Tahir Hussain, brother of Musafar, when Amanullah, Saifullah, Asif and Lal Zada, reportedly opened indiscriminate fire on them. Resultantly, Musafar and Zarkisha were killed on the spot while Tahir Hussasin sustained injuries in the incident.

Tahir was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital, Nowshera. The accused escaped well after the crime.  Police registered a case and started investigation.
