Girls lead the way

MULTAN - Girls completely outshined boys in BA/BSc Annual Examination, 2012 held by Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan as they clinched all the three overall top positions here on Monday.
Ayesha Sharif (Roll No-43616) acquired 695 and stood first while Iqra Jamshed (Roll No-43574) was declared second with got 691 marks and Saman Naz (Roll No-43585) clinched third place by taking 682 marks. All the top three overall position holders belonged to a private college while the students of government colleges failed to secure any position.
The results were announced by the BZU Controller of Examinations Malik Munir while the ceremony was chaired by the Vice chancellor Prof Dr Kh Alqama. BZU Registrar Dr Muhammad Ali and PRO Mirza Ijaz were also present on the occasion.  The Controller disclosed that a total of 45,427 students appeared in the examination out of which 18,087 were declared successful. Thus the overall success ratio in the examination stood at 40.51 per cent.
BSC GROUP: All the top three overall position holders secured top three positions in this group respectively. A total of 7840 candidates took examination under this group and 3605 got through, showing 45.98 per cent success ratio. 
BA GROUP: Tehmina Jameel of Government College for Women Jalalpur (Roll No-4298) topped this group with 629 markss while Saleha Khalil (Roll No. 8073) of a private college stood second with 626 marks and Hafza Bushra Ameen (Roll No. 6333) Government College for Women Taunsa was declared third. She secured 621 marks.
As many as 36808 candidates appeared in the examination under this group and 14482 were declared successful. The pass percentage in this group stood at 39.34 per cent.
Addressing the result ceremony, The VC Dr. Kh. Alqama said that todays message is very loud and clear that if we want a prosperous Pakistan we need to turn it into a knowledge based country. He added that just four per cent highly literate persons could change the destiny of the country. He said that the nation needed to recognise the importance of teachers and all sections of society should give them due respect.  Later on, the VC distributed cash prizes among the position holder.
The first position holoders were given Rs. 20 thousand each while second Rs. 15 and third Rs. 10 thousand. The VC also declared that the fees of position holders would be waived off.  The examination commenced on April 2 and ended on July 7.
