ISLAMABAD  - Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said Pakistan’s agriculture has been spoiled by India which has built dams on Pakistani rivers.

In a statement issued on Monday, Chairman Kashmir Committee, Maulana Fazlur Rehman maintained that if India constructed dams on River Chenab, River Ravi and River Indus, it would hold back establishment of peace in the sub-continent.

He observed India was violating the Indus Basin Treaty of 1960 according to which it had no right to stop inflow of water to the three Pakistani rivers.

Contrary to the Indus Basin Treaty, India was also constructing dams on the stream originating from River Chenab, he noted.

Fazl said India was producing electricity from Occupied Jammu and Kashmir but ironically the people of Occupied Kashmir were facing power outages.

He said the Indian leaders, on one hand pretended that they were friends of Pakistan to please the world, and on the other, it does not let go any opportunity of harming Pakistan.

He urged Indian leaders to realize their claims about real friendship with Pakistan.
