Finance ministry approves Rs1.7b for AJK

ISLAMABAD - The finance ministry on Tuesday approved an immediate release of Rs1.7 billion as advance to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from its share so that it could tide over its problems.
Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, met Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Tuesday and discussed financial problems facing Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Chaudhry Abdul Majeed said that he was thankful to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for distancing the federal government from efforts to destabilize his government.
The AJK government, Chaudhry Abdul Majeed said, was fully conscious of the financial constraints being faced by the Government of Pakistan and supports the initiatives taken by the PML-N government to stabilize the economy.
The AJK Prime Minister apprised the Finance Minister that AJK was facing financial crunch and needed immediate financial assistance. Finance Minister said that the Federal government was conscious of the difficulties being faced by the people of AJK and approved an immediate release of Rs1.7 billion as advance to AJK from its share.
Senator Ishaq Dar said that Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif believes that all political parties should work to strengthen the country economically and rise above political expediency so that the socio-economic problems faced by the people can be addressed. Senator Ishaq Dar said that the present government is striving hard to reset the economy so that it can be put on a path of sustainable growth.
