QUETTA : At least five militants were killed by the security forces after an exchange of fire near Kumbari Bridge, some 15 kilometers away from Dhadar in Bolan district on Tuesday night. The alleged militants were busy planting explosives at the railway track in Kumbari Bridge area when the FC personnel reached the spot. An exchange of fire started between the militants and FC which lasted for an hour, leaving five militants dead. Sources said the FC personnel recovered weapons and explosive materials from their possession. After the incident, local administration rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital, Dhadar. The identification of the militants could not be ascertained.

It may be mentioned here that around 17 alleged militants were killed by the security forces in targeted operations in Bolan and Mastung district during past one week. Security forces started operation in Bolan district after a banned outfit killed 13 passengers belonging to different parts of Punjab on August 5 when they were travelling to their hometowns. On the other hand, Baloch nationalists have strongly criticised search operation in different parts of Balochistan particularly in Bolan district. They alleged that under the pretext of search operation, security forces were targeting innocent people and showing them as militants.
