Flood threat discussed

DCO Dr Farah Masood directed the officials to remain alert and prepare themselves to deal with the expected floods in the district. Addressing a meeting here the other day, she said that the water disposal pumps should be installed in low-lying areas to pump out flood and rainwater. On the occasion, Rescue 1122 officials informed that there was only one boat for rescuing flood affectees. The DCO assured that in case of any emergency the surrounding districts will play an active role in rescue and relief activities. The DCO later addressed the anti- polio drive committee. She informed the officials that the anti-polio drive will start from August 19 and will continue for four days.
Meanwhile, a meeting regarding flour supply was also held. In the meeting it was said that 1 million wheat bags (100 kg each) were in stock with the Food Department.
In case of any emergency the flour mills would be responsible to provide the required flour.
