ISLAMABAD (NNI): The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) appreciated the aim of making “ Made in Pakistan “ in Vision 2025 a symbol of quality and invited the attention of Prof Ahsan Iqbal federal planning minister to the undisputed role of SME sector in value addition and its being a back forte to the large sector. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, President Unisame Zulfikar Thaver urged the minister to convene a joint session for integrating efforts of SMEDA, TDAP, NPO, PCSIR and PSQCA to promote up gradation of SME products in food, textiles and light engineering to meet global challenges and image building of Pakistani goods to be proud of “Made in Pakistan” label.
Integration of efforts is badly needed as it is lacking and the planning ministry could play an important role in combining efforts of the stakeholders.
Thaver said the SME sector expects the government institutions to do more and help them to make their online presence goal oriented for promotion of their products and services globally.
Salman Merchant convener Unisame e-Commerce said surely the SME sector can benefit from e-Commerce through comprehensive knowledge based use of internet facilities of marketing, branding, image building and selling online. He advised the SME sector to avail the services of experts to widen the scope and penetrate non traditional markets by regular advertisements and online presence.
ICCI president welcomes PM’s decision to form judicial commission
ISLAMABAD (APP): ICCI has appreciated Prime Minister’s speech and decision to form a judicial Commission to probe the rigging allegations. Talking to APP, ICCI president Shoban Khalid said that it was a good step by the Prime Minister to resolve the present crisis, adding after the announcement of the decision, there was no reason to hold long march. “Such march would create anarchy in the country which was moving in right direction as the PML-N government initiated a number of development projects” Shoban added. He expressed satisfaction over the country’s economic direction and said that National economy is recovering fast because of foreign investment in multiple new projects especially in the energy sector.
The PML-N government, he said, was also giving top priority to the power generation projects, citing that availability of sufficient energy will keep the industrial wheel on the progress as well as help flourish the trade and businesses.
ICCI president said that the agitating parties should avoid confrontation at this stage in the interest of the country and masses.
He added that government’s decision to constitute judicial commission will not only address the election issue but also will benefit the democracy.
SBP reminds for decimal coins

karachi (Staff Reporter): State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has reminded the general public to exchange the decimal coins of Paisa 1,2,5,10,25 & 50 from the field offices of SBP BSC and commercial / microfinance banks branches by last working day of September 30, 2014 For awareness of general public, SBP has advised the Commercial /Microfinance Banks to display posters/banners at visible places of their branches for exchange of decimal coins. It may be recalled that the federal government has already notified that coins of Paisa 1,2,5,10,25 & 50 will cease to be legal tender on October 1, 2014. However, it can be exchanged from the field offices of SBP BSC and branches of banks till September 30, 2014.

karachi (Staff Reporter): Jubilee Life Insurance Company Limited has announced financial results for the first half of 2014, declaring an interim cash dividend of 25pc (Rs 2.50 per share). The results were declared by the Board of Directors who met under the chairmanship of Kamal A. Chinoy to review the performance of the company. The company reported a pre-tax profit of Rs 881m for the first half of 2014, up 50pc from Rs 587m for the same period in the last year. With after-tax profit of Rs 598m, the earnings per share (EPS) stood at Rs 8.29. These results have reaffirmed industry’s largest private sector insurer, Jubilee Life’s position as the most valuable life insurance company on the Karachi Stock Exchange.
