LAHORE - Experts on Wednesday forecast mainly hot and humid weather for most parts of the country till Thursday, the Independence Day and at the time of Azadi and Inqlab marches.
However, rains are expected at isolated places of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Peshawar, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
From Friday, experts are expecting monsoon rains in the upper parts of the country that are likely to decrease the intensity of muggy weather. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Peshawar, Malakand, Hazara, Kohat divisions and Kashm are likely to receive scattered rains/thundershowers from Friday to Sunday. Heavy rains are expected at isolated places of Islamabad, Peshawar, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions and Kashmir during the period.
Meanwhile, plains of the country remained in the grip of muggy weather on Wednesday, causing people to sweat profusely.
Lack of rains, winds and abundance of sunshine in most parts of the country caused considerable increase in the mercury level during the day and at night with high humidity making the weather oppressive.
Dalbandin remained hottest places in the country where mercury rose as high as 44 degree Celsius. Maximum temperature in Nokundi and Dadu was recorded 43C, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, Sukkur, Sibbi, Chillas and D I Khan 42C.
In Lahore, maximum and minimum temperature was recorded 38C and 26C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 46 per cent.
According to the experts, seasonal low lies over North Balochistan and adjoining areas with its trough extending northeastwards. Weak monsoon currents are penetrating upper parts of the country and Kashmir.
