Rawalpindi - President Awami Muslim League (AML), MNA Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that he would table reference against Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif before Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq on August 15.

He criticised PML-N ex-MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and other workers for attacking New Town Police Station for obtaining release of three one-wheelers. He urged the opposition to shun differences and get united over Panama Leaks and Model Town tragedy. He said that the next 30 days would be crucial, adding that AML is ready to sit with PPP over the issues.

The AML president said this while addressing a press conference yesterday. He also informed media about preparations for holding a public gathering at Lal Haveli in connection with Pakistan Independence Day.

“The people of Rawalpindi have given their decision that they are against suppression and corruption,” he said. “We are also against family dynasty and family democracy,” he added.

Rashid said that being an elected MNA he has the right to hold public rally on the eve of August 14 and apex court has also accepted his right.

He said that AML and people of Rawalpindi are peaceful and the government would be responsible if anything happens wrong on the occasion. He said that efforts are being made to bring all the opposition parties on one platform so that movement could be launched against corrupt government. “If Mian Nawaz Sharif can be an ally of PPP then AML can also sit with PPP over issues,” he said.

Coming down hard on Sharifs, Rashid said that CM Shahbaz Sharif is spending 85 percent of the total budget of Punjab for renovation of Lahore. He said that the projects like Mother Children Hospital, Leh Expressway and girls’ college in Saddar have been dumped by PML-N government because of political rivalry of PML-N with him.

He said that AML and PTI have been enjoying good terms and would struggle together to get rid of corrupt rulers.
