Kapil Dev turns down Imran's oath taking invite

Former Indian cricket captain Kapil D3ev has confirmed that he is not attending oath-taking ceremony of Pakistan’s prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan.

According to Times Now, the former cricketer has confirmed that he would not be attending the swearing-in ceremony on August 18.

Kapil Dev was one of the three Indian cricketers who were invited to attend the Imran's swearing-in ceremony.

According to the reports Kapil Dev refused to attend the ceremony citing the personal reasons. Gavaskar conveyed to Khan that he would not be able to attend the event as he had prior work commitments. On the contrary, cricketer-turned-politician Navjyot Singh Sidhu has accepted the invitation.

Kapil Dev had earlier confirmed he had received a call from PTI inviting him to Imran’s swearing-in event and had said he would attend the ceremony if formally invited.

He congratulated Imran on success and his party's victory over the phone. “Imran has worked hard for 20 years and selflessly worked for his country and today he got the reward for that. I hope he can keep working in the same manner,” he stated.

It is really nice to see a cricketer like Imran up to the post of prime minister of Pakistan, he further added.
