LAHORE - The England men’s and women’s teams will tour Pakistan in October for limited-overs series, with all the matches being hosted by Rawalpindi, the boards announced on Friday.
The T20I matches will be a double-header with both the men’s and women’s teams competing on the same day. The women will additionally compete in a three-match ODI series. The T20I matches will take place on October 13 and 14. The ODI series between the two women’s teams will take place between October 17-21.
The two-match T20I series will be particularly crucial for the men’s teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman later in October. The series will be the final matches that Babar Azam and Eoin Morgan’s men will play before departing for the tournament. The two sides recently clashed in a three-match T20I series in England, with the hosts prevailing by a 2-1 margin.
Both Morgan and Knight’s sides are 50-over world champions. England men are ranked No 1 in ICC T20I Team Rankings and England women are second – just five points behind ICC Women’s T20 World Cup winners Australia. The matches were earlier scheduled to take place at the National Stadium, Karachi, on 14 and 15 October, but have been rescheduled due to operational and logistical reasons.
PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan: “We are delighted to welcome both the England men’s team for what will be their first tour to Pakistan since 2005, and the England women’s team, who will be touring Pakistan for the first time. Both are additional tours with England men’s side scheduled to return to Pakistan in the last quarter of 2022 for white-ball and ICC World Test Championship fixtures.”
