LAHORE - Dacoits gunned down a 25-year-old shopkeeper on offering resistance here in Sabzazar police area late on Friday night while another 35-year-old robbery victim succumbed to bullet wounds at a local hospital, police sources said on Saturday. Yasir Rehman, a medicine dealer, was sitting at his shop in Sabzazar area when three armed bandits forced their entry and held him hostage. The bandits demanded cash and cellular phone. As the resident of Model Town offered resistance and tried to overpower the bandits, one of them opened fire at him. The youth sustained multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to wounds later. The bandits fled away after collecting cash, valuables and a car. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating with no arrest made so far. In another incident, Nimat Ullah a resident of Lucky Marwat, who was rushed to a local hospital with multiple bullet wounds the other day died there on Saturday, Hanjarwal police said. The police sources said that Nimat Ullah along with another employee Saeed Akbar was sitting at the godown of Asghar Khan in Hanjarwal area when four armed bandits stormed into the godown and held them up at gunpoint. As both the godown workers tried to put up resistance, the bandits opened fire on them and escaped after collecting cash and valuables worth over thousands of rupees. Both the workers were rushed to a local hospital where Nimat Ullah succumbed to bullet wounds on Saturday while the condition of Saeed Akbar was reported to be out of danger. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy. Further investigations were underway. Meanwhile, gangsters took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables besides three motorcycles and a car in several successful strikes from different parts of the Punjab capital, police sources claimed. Armed bandits barged into the residence of Asif in Jabbar Street (house No 1) in Lytton Road police vicinity and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth over tens of thousands of rupees after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint. Robbers forced their entry into another house situated in Johar Town police area and held up the family members at gunpoint and fled away after snatching cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth over lakhs of rupees. Two robbers riding a motorcycle intercepted a youth in Township police area. The bandits held him up at gunpoint and demanded cash and cellular phone. As the youth offered resistance, they hit him with the butt of the pistol and escaped after snatching his mobile phone and purse, containing thousands of rupees. Two robbers riding a motorcycle intercepted Saira in Bhatti Gate police area and deprived her of gold ornaments worth over thousands of rupees at gunpoint. Four gunmen stormed into the Crown General Store situated in Shalimar police area and fled away after collecting cash and four mobile phones after holding the shopkeeper and customers hostage at gunpoint. Two robbers burst into a medical store situated in Ravi Road police vicinity and escaped after collecting cash and valuables at gunpoint. Another two robbers forced their entry into Ittefaq mobile phone shop at Shalimar link-road and took away cash and cellular phones at gunpoint. Three robbers intercepted a passerby in Raza block Iqbal Town police and escaped after snatching his mobile phone and handbag, containing cash and valuables. Three robbers snatched away a car (LRD-1951) from Misri Shah police area while four motorcycles were stolen away from Ichra, Garhi Shahu, Kot Lakhpat and Mughalpura police areas.
