ISLAMABAD - Four players and three officials will leave from Karachi for Turkey to participate in the 3rd World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) World Championship on Sunday (today). Secretary Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, Lt. Col Waseem Ahmed Janjua told The Nation that it would be the first appearance of the national players in the world championship that will be held from December 16 to 19 at Ankara. "Our best slot will represent Pakistan in the prestigious international fixture," he added. He said that Irshad Ali, Gul Bostan, Jamil Ahmed and Shaukat Fazal would compete in different categories. "It will be a good opportunity for the top national players to get an international exposure by fighting with other top players of the world. They will learn much in this tour," he said. Waseem further said that they had the services of two qualified Korean coaches and the standard of the game at national level would certainly go up in the near future. "Irfan-ul-Haq Mian will visit Turkey as the head of team and team doctor while Cho Sunghyun will be head coach of the team. Balakh Sher Zaheer will perform the duties of manager during the 4-day international taekwondo event," he concluded.
