11 militants killed in Kurram, Swat

KURRAM AGENCY/SWAT - As many as 11 militants were killed and five security personnel were martyred in skirmishes in Kurram Agency and Swat on Sunday. Seven militants were killed and two security personnel were wounded in clashes in Kurram Agency. The forces a day earlier launched a massive clean-up operation against the militants. Gunship helicopters and artillery were in action against hideouts of militants. It is worth mentioning here that at least 15 militants including a key militant commander were killed on Saturday in Kurram Agency. Meanwhile, four other militants were killed in an action at Najigram area in the outskirts of tehsil Kabal in Swat. The deceased were identified as Tali Mand, Rozi Khan, Taj Mohammad and Rahim Ghani. On the other hand, search operations continued in various parts of Swat Valley, wherein six suspected militants were taken into custody. Reuters adds: Intelligence officials confirmed the militants death toll in Kurram clashes while a military official said five soldiers had also been killed in the fighting.
