Demo against raise in power tariff

ISLAMABAD -Students of the federal capital later joined by people from all walks of life got together outside the National Press Club here on Sunday to protest against the governments announcement to increase electricity tariff from January 2010. The demonstrators also marched towards Super Market with their placards and urged passersby to join them in their cause for the better of the country. Electricity is worth more than our lives now, opined one of the demonstrators. They demanded of the government to invest more in renewable sources of energy and criticised the idea of Rental Power Plants (RPPs) initiated by the government, dismissing them as nepotism on the part of high-ups to provide business to acquaintances. The demonstrators were holding placards inscribed with the several slogans, including; We do not accept the dictations of the IMF, We will not pay for loadshedding, and Where are the promised Wind mills?
