There is definitely a need to redefine the concept of student assessment and process of teaching and learning to make them more meaningful. Chief Executive officer of the Beacon house system Kasim Kasuri rightly stated this in an interview to a newspaper. He said that the assessment mechanism in practice was not contributing to the overall development of the young students. He stated that most of the student had the habit of cramming as they just wanted to pass the exam, adding that students should be involved in experiential learning. The home school idea was flourishing in the countries like US as people had lost faith in government school because of the teaching methods, he said while elaborating his point of view regarding teaching and learning philosophy. Our education system is in dire needs of reforms. Unless and until we get rid of rote learning and cramming, we will not be able to produce true scholars and scientists.
