Visiting Malta, an island state in the Mediterranean, a couple of decades ago, I came across a senior Maltese officer from their national flag carrier who told me that Air Malta pilots and technical staff were all trained by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). He showered me with letters praising PIA’s training staff, adding that the Maltese Airline was still maintaining very high standards set by their training godfathers. Now twenty years later, I see this mighty falcon of the skies fallen on hard times to please a few, who have no self respect or respect for their motherland! How can we let these criminalities go on, abusing and plundering not only our resources and our dignity but our nation’s name! People who respected us are now looking down on us; will merit ever have its way in our national airlines again that had set such high standards?
