ISLAMABAD - Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Friday strongly condemned the continuing targeting of polio teams and their police escorts, including the latest incidents in Swabi and Khyber Agency.

He called on the Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and the federal government, which has responsibility for FATA, to take strong action to arrest the killers and provide strong security to polio teams so that anti-polio programme is carried out successfully.

Khan informed that next week he would himself spearhead the anti-polio programme in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on behalf of PTI as this debilitating but preventable disease must be eradicated to save future generations from being disabled. Khan also reminded that unless Pakistan can show a serious resolve in carrying out its anti-polio programme, it stands in danger of being quarantined internationally, which will impact all Pakistanis travelling abroad including Pakistani labourers. He called on all the political and religious leadership to join him and personally take a lead role in furthering the anti-polio drive.
