Rawalpindi - Within a span of few hours, the armed robbers and gangs of auto thieves played havoc in the city by looting cash, gold, mobile phones and other valuables and taking away dozens of motorcycles and cars.

Two citizens were shot injured by robbers on showing resistance during robbery bids in the limits of Police Station New Town, which has become a save heaven for criminals, and Bunni. As usual, police have been remain in slumber and took no action to stop the looting spree in the city.

According to sources on Friday, a gang of three robbers surrounded a citizen Shahid Sultan who was sitting in his Mehran car (ZU-708) near MCB Bank in Chandni Chowk. The robbers pointed pistols on him and started demanding valuables. On refusal, one robber fired a gun shot which hit Shahid’s leg. After, the robbers fled.

Likewise, a gang of other 3 looters intercepted two motorcycle rider friends Muhammad Mubin and Soban in the area of PS New Town and snatched Rs 5000 cash, mobile phones, ATM cards and gold rings. A robbers shot Soban injured over offering resistance and escaped from the scene. Auto theft gang also pilfered Muhammad Ahmed’s FX car (E-4874) from New Town area.

Brig (retd) Maqsood Ahmed reported to PS Ratta Amral that his sister Shabana was coming back to her home in a rickshaw when unknown intruders riding on motorcycle stopped her and snatched 6 gold bangles and a bracelet and sped away.

Marwat Jan of Gulshan Nayab, lodged a complaint with PS Westridge and accused Ateeq-ur-Rehman of swaging Rs 20,000 cash, prize bonds worth Rs 75,000, i-Pod, 2 mobile phones, rings and watches

Four robbers entered into shop of Hasnain Mehmood at PS Airport area and snatched 6 mobile phones, 1 laptop and other documents on gunpoint. The criminals escaped after looting the man. Sheikh Shaukat of Tulsa Road appeared before PS Civil Line and told that 3 unknown armed burglars stormed into his house and made off with Rs 25,000, laptop, gold ornaments, cameras and other valuables.

 In RA Bazaar area, two robbers robbed Muhammad Qasim of 2 mobile phones, Rs 1000 cash and other documents on gunpoint. On the other hand, the auto theft gangs stolen motorcycles and cars from the areas of police stations Banni, Ganjmandi and Cannt. Police lodged cases and started investigation.
