ISLAMABAD - Four new polio cases were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on Saturday, raising the total number of polio cases in the country to 280 this year.

According to National Institute of Health, Rehan, 13-month-old male child, who paralysed hailed from district Swat.

Eid Gul, 11-month-old child, from South Waziristan, Ihtesham, a 5-month-old-child, and Abdul Mateen, a 21-month- child, both from Khyber Agency, contracted the virus as they were not vaccinated against the disease.

This year so far, 172 polio cases have been reported from Fata, 61 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 27 from Sindh, 17 from Balochistan and three from Punjab.
