Rawalpindi - Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday came down hard on Rawalpindi police bigwigs for their failure to address the complaints of the poor and helpless citizens and warned them to put the house in order.

“Every police officer/official should prove himself/herself the servant of public in real terms and protect the masses and their properties with full commitment and dedication; otherwise strict action will be taken against them,” he added.

The federal minister expressed these views in an open court in which the citizens tabled complaints against police injustice and atrocities. He said that corruption would not be tolerated at any cost in police department.

He said the prime duty of police was to protect the masses and provide them with justice. He said that the people should also cooperate with police in a bid to curb crimes. “If any goon or land grabber teases public and police officer does not provide justice to the victim and shelters the criminals, the people should write to me with ample evidence and I will take strict action against the responsible,” he said in an open court and later in a public gathering held at Dhamial. On the occasion, top bosses of Rawalpindi police, besides a large number of citizens, were also present.

Coming down hard on PTI Chairman Imran Khan, he said that people should differentiate as who was bad and who was good. He said that Khan wanted to destroy the country by launching protests and shutting down the cities.

He announced to establish boys and girls degree colleges in Kashmir Colony and allocated Rs 6.5 million for renovation of Dhamial-Kalyal Road.

On the occasion, MPA Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal, PML-N stalwart Raja Altaf and other local leaders were also present.
