ISLAMABAD-Asad Ullah Khan stunned top junior player Ilham Khan in the Asian Tennis Tour first round match played here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex on Tuesday.

It is the richest prize money tournament of the country with total of Rs 981,000 on offer. Top players of the country have been featuring in this event, which will also give valuable international ranking points to local players.

The best match of the day was played between the two KP boys Asad and Ilham, who are future of Pakistan tennis. Ilham was favourite to win this particular tie but Asad turned the tables of the match and won it 2-1 in style. Ilham started the first set on a high, winning it 6-4, but after going down in the first set, Asad bounced back in style and completely outclassed Ilham in the second set 6-1.

Third set was a treat to watch as both the players played superb tennis and managed to hold onto their respective serves and the set and match was decided on tie-break, where Asad delivered and won 7-6 (4) to make way to the second round.

In the other U-18 singles matches, top junior player Muzammil Murtaza had easy sailing against Musa Ch 6-3,6-1.
