PPL gives donations to two hospitals

Karachi (PR): Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) donated Rs12.4 million and Rs9.3 million to Indus Hospital (IH) as well as Koohi Goth Hospital (KGH), respectively, as part of its ongoing CSR efforts to provide free-of-cost, quality healthcare to the underprivileged. MD &CEO PPL Syed Wamiq Bokhari presented donation cheques to CEO IH Dr Abdul Bari Khan and President KGH Dr Syed Tipu Sultan on Tuesday in the presence of representatives from both organizations and company staff at an event organized at PPL’s head office here. The donations will assist in improving essential mother and child healthcare. “Providing quality healthcare, especially for mother and child, has remained a key priority for our CSR initiatives. PPL has also established fully-equipped mother and childcare facilities insome of the remotest areas in the country,” said Bokhari.

PPL has been adjudged as the largest corporate giver in terms of volume of donations for 11 consecutive years by prestigious Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy. The company spent over Rs. 990 million for its CSR programme during 2015-2016.

Huawei’s Mate 9 enters Pakistan

LAHORE (PR): Huawei, the global technology leader, has kicked off the launch of its latest flagship device in Pakistan. The tech giant hosted an exclusive press conference in Lahore the other day to announce the launch of Mate 9 smartphone. Team Huawei introduced the device and explained its features. Company’s country manager in Pakistan Blue King gave an overview of Huawei’s commitment and successes towards technological excellence, while also presenting the pioneering features of the Mate 9 device. Deputy GM of Huawei Pakistan Fraz Khan also briefed the media about the 5 key selling features of Mate 9.

He talked about the exceptional speed, the supercharge 4000 mAh battery, the second generation Dula lens Leica camera, Mate9’s sleek design aesthetic and amazingly adaptable interface. The event marked the official entry of Mate 9 in Pakistan.

The Mate 9 hit the retail market on 7th December with the price point of Rs69,899. It is already causing a stir with its hot sales. Huawei has marked its territory amongst the big players in the smartphone market, with this avant-garde device. They look well on their way to achieving their target of becoming the no 1 smartphone providers in the world by 2017.

PC Lahore holds event

LAHORE (PR): In order to commemorate the 12 Rabi Ul Awal, Pearl Continental Lahore, in collaboration with Media Sniffers, organised a Qawali Night on December 12th at its Koh-e-Noor Hall. The event was titled ‘Qawali Night with Imran Aziz Mian, which was attended by the Qawali lovers and other elites of the city.

Jazz slashes its internet base rate

Islamabad (PR): Committed to providing relief to its data hungry consumers, Jazz has announced a significant reduction in its internet base rate. Now, all Jazz prepaid subscribers can surf the internet by only paying Rs2.39 per MB. Previously, the telco was charging Rs11.95 per MB on the Champions Package & Rs21.51 per MB for rest of prepaid subscribers.

Muhammad Ali khan, Head of Data – Mobilink, said, “Mobilink has always been at the forefront of providing the best customer experience and quality. This significant data price reduction enables us to reduce the entry barrier in the mobile broadband domain and assists us in achieving our goal of digitally empowering each and every customer.”

Following the reduction in data base rate, customers will now be able to do more than ever before. The move has been made to accelerate the uptake of mobile broadband throughout the country and is line with Jazz’s digitization goals. Since the internet base rate is available for all prepaid subscribers by default, one doesn’t need to subscribe to it.

FPBC, UMT strive to improve edu

Lahore (PR): Finland Pakistan Business Council (FPBC) and University of Management and Technology (UMT) Tuesday signed a Letter of Agreement for long-term cooperation towards the development of education in Pakistan. UMT becomes the exclusive Premier Education Partner of FPBC for 2017. Dr Hasan Sohaib Murab, Rector of UMT, and Wille Eerola, chairman of FPBC, signed the Letter of Agreement.

“It’s our pleasure to be part of the process where for the first time ever a leading Pakistani university and leading Finnish academic institutions will work together”, says Wille Eerola, Chairman of Finland Pakistan Business Council and Honorary Consul General of Pakistan for Finland.

FPBC and University of Management and Technology together, will host several events on educational development during the year of 2017, in addition to concrete projects implementing the Finnish school system in Pakistan. The first major event will be hosted at the next Nordic Pakistan Business Summit (NPBS), held in Helsinki, Finland on January 19th, 2017. University of Management and Technology is also one of the main sponsors of the NPBS events in 2017, first in Helsinki in January and then in Lahore in April.

ADB to provide technical assistance to Tevta

LAHORE (PR): Asian Development Bank will provide technical assistance to TEVTA for skills upgradation in Punjab. This initiative will improve the training being imparted at TEVTA institutes. This was stated by Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh. He was talking to the ADB mission at TEVTA Secretariat.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that delegation of Asian Development Bank discussed exploring the possibilities of cooperation with TEVTA Punjab in specific and the skills sector at large.

ADB will support for latest training opportunities for youth of the Punjab, industry-institute linkage, teachers training and placement of TEVTA pass-outs across the province. He briefed the mission that a modern system of competence based training and assessment has been launched in lines of international standard instead of traditional training.

Chairperson TEVTA further said that we have also completed the targets given by World Bank for PSDP. Industry Partnership Program has also successfully been launched in order to provide quality technical education as per demand of industry. Youth will not only get quality technical education but job opportunities will also be available locally and internationally.
