SIALKOT/MIANWALI/GUJRANWALA-Seven people including four women and a boy were killed four of them for honour in separate incidents here on Tuesday.

An 11-year-old boy was tortured to death by the security guard of a local marriage hall for catching the currency notes showered there by some wedding guests on the arrival of a Baraat in village Garha.

As the Baraat reached there, some jubilant wedding guests started showering currency notes. Danish son of Shehzad Ahmed tried to catch these currency notes. However, the marriage hall’s security guard Safdar became infuriated and hit the child’s head with a wooden stick. He fell unconscious and died on way to Daska Civil Hospital before any medication due to bleeding.

Later, Bambaanwala police have arrested the security guard and shifted the body to Daska Civil Hospital for autopsy. Police have sent the accused behind bars.

Meanwhile, a woman was killed and seven other persons including three children were injured seriously as a heavy electrical transformer fell from the poll, when a loader vehicle hit the poll in Sialkot city’s congested Sarafa Bazaar locality.

The loader vehicle (LZR-6929) was carrying more than 30 people including women and children. As it hit the poll, the heavy electrical transformer fell on people aboard the vehicle, killing Sundas Ammara Bibi (32) and seven other people including three children namely Sajal Tariq (14), Abu Bakar (4), Husnain Tariq (3), Rubina Shahid (30), Zareena Khalil (50), Saba Sajid (25) and Abdullah Shahid (9).

Rescue 1122 rescuers shifted the injured to Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot, where the condition of the three injured was stated to be critical.

The victims said that Gepco had kept the electrical transformers on the polls, with unscrewing its nuts and bolts, due to which it fell on them directly after the polls were hit by their vehicle.

The Kotwali police arrested the driver of vehicle for the reckless driving after registering a case. Police have registered the case on the report of Shehbaz Sheikh, the husband of victim Sundas Ammara. The local Gepco officials also said that they have ordered a probe into the matter.

Likewise, a car driver lost his life after drowning in a canal as his vehicle plunged into Bambaanwala-Ravi-Baidian Canal Daska in a bid to escape from the bullets fired by dacoits.

Two youth were going to village Mianwali Bangla, Daska tehsil, when some unknown dacoits signaled them to stop, but they didn’t stop there near the Siphon and tried to escape and the accused dacoits started firing on the vehicle.

During the escape, the vehicle driver lost its control and the vehicle plunged into the BRB Daska canal, due to which Rizwan Zafar (23) drowned in the canal, while his friend Umer Farooq swam out from the canal. He called the Rescue 1122 Sialkot for help. The rescuers fished out the dead body from the canal.

Meanwhile, unknown armed accused forcibly kidnapped local landlord Faiz Ahmed’s young daughter Kanwal Shehzadi (20) at gunpoint from her house in village Bheelo Mahaar-Motra, Daska tehsil.

A Mianwali-based man killed his daughter and her boyfriend on honour in Bhacran. His daughter had eloped with her boyfriend some days before. When they came back to home, the girl’s father gunned down them. Police have taken the bodies into its custody and shifted them to nearby local hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In Gujranwala, a man killed his wife for honour at Ali Pur Chatha Gujranwala. Pervez had suspected her of having bad character. They had a quarrel over the issue and in a fit of rage Pervez attached his wife with a sharp edge knife. Resultantly, she died on the spot. Alipur Chatha Police have registered a case.

Likewise, a burnt his wife for going to parents home without permission. It was reported that Rehana, wife of Pipli Wala-based Farhan, went to her parents home without getting permission from his husband. When she returned, Farhan abused and set her ablaze after throwing petrol on her body. Resultantly, Rehana received burn injuries and was rushed to DHQ Hospital. In another incident, Samia, wife of Sajjad, got burns during cooking at her home. She was also referred to DHQ Hospital.
