Karachi - The funeral prayers of pop star- turned Islamic preacher Junaid Jamshed will be offered here at Moin Khan Academy in Defence Housing Society Phase VIII on Thursday (tomorrow) at 1:00 pm.

This was announced by elder brother of Junaid Jamshed , Humayun Jamshed while talking to media alongside Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman at his residence.

Humayun said that he had been informed about the identification of Junaid’s body after medical examination of his teeth. “But we have preferred to further verify it through a DNA test,” he added. “We have been informed that the DNA tests of our brother will be completed in two days; therefore we have decided to arrange his funeral on Thursday after Zohar prayers,” he informed.

The brother of Junaid Jamshed further said that he would be travelling to Islamabad to receive Junaid’s body and the funeral prayers would only be held in Karachi; not in Islamabad.

Earlier talking to media, Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that the loss of Junaid Jamshed was a great shock for the entire nation, and the government should ground all planes of Pakistan International Airlines “We will not allow them to fly unless they are given a clearance by a reputed foreign company,” he said categorically.

He said that it had also been reported that even after having been grounded, a similar plane was used for transporting the prime minister. “This raises several questions and action should be taken against those responsible of negligence,” he emphasised.

He said that Junaid was not only himself treading the path of Allah, but he had also conveyed the message of Quran and Sunnah to the masses.

The JUI-F leader also rejected Sindh Minorities Protection Bill, and said that Islam prohibits forced conversions. “But it does not specify age limits for the purpose,” he clarified.

“Forced conversion knows no age, and even an old person can be forced to renounce his religion; therefore such laws are against Islamic teachings,” he said, adding that Prophet (PBUH)’s companion Hazrat Ali (RA) is the first child in the Islamic history who embraced Islam.
