ISLAMABAD: The funeral prayers of iconic religious personality Junaid Jamshed were offered on Wednesday at the Noor Khan airbase.

Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman was present on the occasion. Religious preacher and cleric Maulana Tariq Jameel, and the friends and brother of Junaid Jamshed were also there.

His remains will be flown in a specially designated C-130 aircraft wrapped in the flag of Pakistan. He was also given a guard of honour with full military representation.

The funeral prayers of sixteen other victims who were aboard the ill-fated aircraft were also offered at the PIMS hospital. They were later handed over to their family members.

Jamshed’s body was identified on Monday with the help of facial X-ray and his dental history. Another funeral prayers and burial will be offered in Karachi on Thursday.

His brother Humayun Jamshed had said that Junaid’s funeral prayers will be offered at the Moin Khan Academy Ground DHA, and will be laid to rest at the Darul-Uloom Korangi.
