KARACHI - K-Electric has geared up its drive against power thieves and defaulters in different areas of the city.

According to KE spokesperson, the department has taken tough action against some of the residents of Residential Apartment Complex Marine Drive in Clifton, who owe millions of rupees to the power utility.

KE team also raided Zeenat Square, a residential building located in Liaquatabad, most of inmates of which were found involved in electricity theft, and owed dues worth over Rs30 million to the power utility. The KE team also disconnected several illegal connections in the locality.

“KE continues to eradicate power theft from all areas, especially those where resistance by the local residents is high. We have not confined our action to any specific locality; rather, we are taking action against defaulters without any discrimination in order to facilitate our loyal consumers,” KE spokesperson added. KE has also initiated a repayment scheme for the defaulters to clear their dues.

In this regard, regional teams are facilitating the consumers by holding camps in different areas of the city. As a result of repayment option, it is worth mentioning that residents of Apsara apartments in Liaquatabad have cleared their dues.

KE has also encouraged other consumers to cooperate and show their willingness to pay their outstanding dues and set an example for the others.
