Pakistan paid huge price for success of US in the region: Fatemi

WASHINGTON: Tariq Fatemi, special assistant of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on foreign affairs has said Pakistan has paid heavy price for US success in the region.

“Better relations between Pakistan and US are a must for sorting out problems in the region. Pakistan has paid a whopping price for US success in the region,” he said this in an interview with Washington Times.

He held US should think what impact it would have in the region before doing anything.

Regarding terrorism he said, there was no space for those in Pakistan who are involved in terrorism. US president elect Donald Trump and Pakistan views on terrorism are alike. “We would like Trump administer should pay a visit to Pakistan and areas that have been cleared from terrorists,” he added.

He remarked “We will work together with Trump administration. Donald Trump business background and his interest in economic relations bear resemblance with Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif vision.”

He went on to say that Nawaz Sharif wants to promote relations and build economic ties with all the countries, including Russia. Relations with US have also gone normal after PM Nawaz Sharif has come into power.

Citing to F-16 planes he said Pakistan uses almost all weapons made by US and we want to use these weapons in future. But when US discontinued supply of F-16 to us then Pakistan had to consider other options, he added.
