Faisal wins Monthly Medal Golf trophy

LAHORE – Faisal Sayid has emerged as the monthly medal champion after scoring gross 79 in the Eid Milad-un-Nabi Monthly Medal Golf Event here at the Royal Palm golf course. A total of 63 hopeful golfing competitors turned up to participate in the event. Faisal came up with the best gross score of the day, a gross 79, which enabled him to pick up the glittering trophy and get applauded by a large number of his fellow competitors. Talented Hussain Hamid won the runner-up prize with a score of gross 80. Asim Tiwana emerged as the winner of first net prize with the net score of 71 while the second net was won by Umair Butt/ In handicap category 13 to 18, Zafar Iqbal won the first gross and Waqar Butt second while Shahbaz Shah won the first net and Abdur Rauf second.–Staff Reporter

 

PSB releases Rs1.5m to snooker champ

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA) president Alamgir A Shaikh Tuesday confirmed that the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has released the amount of Rs 1.5 million to Hamza Akbar, for winning the Asian snooker title for Pakistan in 2015, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He said that a cheque of Rs 1.5 million had been received by the PBSA from the Pakistan Sports Board to be handed over to former Asian snooker champion Hamza Akbar very soon. “The PBSA is deeply thankful to IPC Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Pakistan Sports Board for helping Hamza and the PBSA. It will also encourage the association to further promote the game of snooker in Pakistan, as well as our snooker players to perform and excel in international competitions and bring laurels for our beloved country.”–Staff Reporter

 

 

Mudassar helps Shifa Int’l score win

ISLAMABAD - Syed Mudassar Bukhari helped Shifa International Hospital beat Panthers Cricket Club Rawalpindi by eight wickets in a friendly match held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Batting first, Panthers Club were all out for 189 in 30 over. Numan was top scorer with 60 studded with 7 fours and 2 sixes, while Adeel scored 44 and Usman 17. Syed Mudassar Bukhari ripped through Panthers batting and grabbed 6-31, while Tariq Shahzad took 2-47. Shifa International achieved the target in the 22nd over for the loss of only two wickets. Azmat Bashir scored a classic century while Tahir Akhtar hit unbeaten 28 and Faisal Iqbal 16. Azmat Bashir and Tahir Akthar contributed 120 runs for the 3rd-wicket stand. Numan took 2-51. PTF condoles death of Rashid’s son

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) president Salim Saifullah Khan Tuesday expressed his deep sorrow and grief, personally and on behalf of the PTF management committee and staff members, on the tragic and sudden demise of Shehryar Malik, son of ex-Davis Cupper and PLTA secretary Rashid Malik. In his message, PTF secretary Khalid Rehmani said: “Shehryar was only 23 and had accompanied his father to Islamabad and sadly, he lost his life due to sudden heart failure. All the sports fraternities in the country will surely mourn this huge loss. “The PTF president, secretary and all are with Rashid in this hour of grief and pray that may Allah bless the departed soul and grant him with eternal peace in heaven and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss.”–Staff Reporter
