FAISALABAD-Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana said that the youth are national asset and custodian of the country, and urged them to play their pivotal role for the development of Pakistan after getting education.
He was addressing 8th Convocation of Govt College University held at new campus on Jhang Road. He congratulated the position holders and successful students, and said that the students pay back the rights of their parents and country after achieving the degrees. He urged them to become employment providers and not job seekers in different fields of commerce, trade and science. He said that Pakistan was enriched with a lot of blessings but it was need to serve the country with dedication and commitment in the right directions.
Expressing his pleasure over the peaceful educational environment in GC University, he said that problems be solved by mutual understanding the negotiation in spite of staging agitation and sit-ins. He appreciated the sincere efforts and commitment of Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali for the progress and development of the university. He said that it was a blessing for the students of the region.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the VC thanked the Governor for gracing the convocation as chief guest consecutively in three years. He said that his participation was the great encouragement for the university management and students. He said that the GC University Faisalabad was included in the top five universities of the country and more than 40 thousands students had been enrolled for education.
He said that the university was providing education for PHD degree in 27 subjects, MPhil in 50 subjects, masters in 39 and bachelor degree in 59 subjects. He said that funds of Rs.730 million had been spent for the construction of four academic blocks and state of art science laboratory and other development projects while two further sub campuses were also being established at Chiniot and Hafizabad. He said that special attention was being given for the characterization of the students besides strengthening the education structure of the university. During the convocation, degrees and medals were awarded to the students of different education sessions from 2011 to 2016.
