We were coming from Hafizabad to Lahore when stopped at the police check-post at Thokar Niaz Baig. The police officials asked us to show the driving license and documents of the car which we did. Since one of the tokens of our car was short, so we were told we were going to be booked. We told them we were going to GPO for the payment of the token. They replied that it was against law and the only thing they could do is to give us a ticket. After a while, we were told if we wanted to go, we should deposit chaa paani at the nearby shop. One of my cousins gave them a hundred rupee note and we were allowed to go with great ease. I would request the authorities to take notice of this, and my countrymen, especially my cousin to avoid giving bribe to the officials. ROY DILAWER KHAN, Hafizabad, February 9.
