BAHAWALPUR - Commissioner Muhammad Khan Khichi has said that as a result of computerisation of land record and no one will be able to exploit the people in obtaining the “Fard” of their property and they will also get rid of land mafia. He said that computerisation of land record was being carried out in the division. He said that service centres had been made operational while the process of data entry in other the districts will be started soon.

He said that initially the computerisation process had begun in Bahawalpur Tehsil where records of six villages had been computerised and everyone one could check its land record online.

He said the process would be launched in other Tehsils as well and it would take at least one year to cover them all.

He said that the introduction of the system had multi-purposes including limiting the role of patwaris and to minimizing corruption in the Revenue Department.

He said that the project should be implemented in a professional manner and the Punjab Information Technology Board should extend all out technical assistance in this regard.

Meanwhile, the district government had recovered Rs471.9 million government dues throughout the district.

 This was stated by DCO Dr Naeem Rauf here the other day.

According to the detail, Rs96.4 million have been recovered as stamp duty, in registration fee Rs34.8 million, in Capital Value Tax Rs28.9 million, Rs167million as a transfer fee of land, Rs51.8 million have been recovered as water rate.

While in Agricultural Income Tax, Rs21.46 million has been recovered. The revenue of Rs1.2 million recovered and 400 unregistered vehicles and impounded in different police stations by CIA Police and Excise Department. Both departments took action against the unregistered vehicles jointly.
