SAHIWAL/CHICHAWATNI/FAISALABAD – At least 19 people were killed and 30 others injured in separate road accidents in different cities of Punjab.

In the first accident, eight passengers were killed and 15 others injured in a head-on collision of bus and trailer on Sahiwal Bypass on Wednesday.

Bus (LXC 1282) was bounded for Lahore from Chichawatni. When it reached near the bypass, due to high speed it collided with a trailer (TT3430) coming from the opposite side. Resultantly, 6 passengers namely Shafqat Ali, Ghulam, Mushtaq Ahmad, Ishfaq Ahmad,Muhmmad Saeed and Ghulam Abbas died on the spot. Two unidentified passengers were critically injured and referred to Lahore but scummed to injuries while 15 passengers were seriously injured and shifted to DHQ Hospital Sahiwal among them four are stated to be in critical condition. On information about accident team of 1122 team reached the place and traffic police also reached there and shift the injured and dead bodies to the DHQ hospital Sahwial.

In another accident near Multan Road Chowki bypass, a Raiwind bound passenger bus rammed into a trailer. As a result of the collision, 10 people were killed on the spot while 16 others sustained wounds. The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital by rescue personnel.

Later in the wee hours of Wednesday a bus on Jhang Road rammed into a van as it entered Faisalabad. According to rescue sources the accident claimed bus driver’s life, while it left at least ten passengers injured who were rushed to hospital for treatment.
