SIALKOT - Federal Minister for National Regulation and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the general elections would be held on time in the country, saying that holding of free, fair and transparent elections would be great victory of democracy.

She said that holding general elections would be a great challenge for all the political parties in the country, as the world was eyeing on these polls. She stated this while talking to the different delegations of local notables and party workers at Koobay Chak, Bajwat, Head Marala and Sialkot.

She said that the PPP government would soon announce a caretaker government in the country after completing its constitutional tenure. She said that the PPP government would formulate the caretaker government by taking all the allies and opposition parties into confidence over issue.

Dr Firdous said that the federal government was strengthening the institutions in the country and promoting the democracy and democratic norms and values, besides, putting the country on the way to political and economical stability. She pledged that the PPP would continue serving the masses without any political indiscrimination.

The federal minister said that the PPP government was safeguarding the rights of the party workers, as the sincere, dedicated workers and companions were the asset, wealth and capital of the PPP. She said that the federal government was the guardian of democracy in the country and was striving for the rights of the masses. PPP would never allow anyone to derail democracy, as PPP was successfully eliminating the anti-democracy conspiracies of the anti-democratic elements.

Cash, gold looted: The dacoits rampaged through Sambrial city, looting gold ornaments, cash, motorcycles and other valuables worth millions of rupees in separate incidents here the other day.

As per detail, in village Kot Dogran-Begowala, some dacoits deprived Head Constable Sabir of Rs25,000 at gunpoint when he was on the way back home after drawing his salary.

In Sambrial, four unidentified motorcyclists looted Rs67,000 from Sultan Saleem, Rs54,000 from Nawaz Jamal and their motorcycle KAG-6737 at gunpoint and fled away.

Meanwhile, the dacoits also looted gold ornaments and thousands of rupees from passengers including LHV Naheed Rafique and Midwife Sajida who were going in an auto rickshaw owned by Basharat Arif.  In another incident, seven unidentified men set up a picket near village Malkhaanwala-Sambrial and looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth thousands of rupees from as many as 22 persons including women.

Yet in another incident, some unidentified armed men looted cash, gold ornaments and cash worth lakhs of rupees in village Tharra along Dodha Road,

In a separate hit, the dacoits looted a Ghumanaawali Village based trader Irfan Yousaf Janjua, his wife and sister-in-law.

The clueless Sambrial Police have registered separate cases with no arrest or recovery, in this regard.
